The 10 Commandments of Blogging
- Thou shall not spam. If you have a product and/or service that you need to promote, there are many other productive and effective ways of promoting them, other than spamming. Put some thought into it and seek such ways.
- Thou shall not use the comment option in vain. A saying attributed to the Kenyans states, having a good discussion is like having riches. A good discussion is often product of well intended and thoughtful comments.
- Though shall not plagiarize. It is not only unlawful, but it also stifles your own brand of creativity and imagination. As we have seen it so far, the world cannot continue to afford to miss out on such creativity and imagination.
- Thou shall not confuse thy opinion with gospel truth. Try to match your affinity for telling with that of listening, as there is much to learn from both.
- Thou shall cite thy references mindfully. Just because it is written does not mean it is a fact. Use your discerning power at all times.
- Thou shall write to be understood by most. The need that necessitated language is communication. We may feel bending the rules of language is a form of self expression. What good is an expression if it cannot be understood by those that it is directed?
- Thou shall not use aliases or sock puppets. Please do not create multiple user names in order to create the impression of agreement within your own aliases, or any other purpose, for that matter. Although self dialogue is an important behavior to foster, it should, however, be limited to your internal devices.
- Thou shall not feed the trolls. If someone is spoiling for a fight, don’t feed such a need. A flame war usually takes more than one person. Don’t be that second person.
- Thou shall know that the opinions expressed on this site are exclusively of the person who expressed them. If you disagree with an opinion expressed in a comment or post, respond to it in the manner outlined in the previous eight commandments.
- Thou shall enjoy yourself. Modern science has now caught up with an idea we humans have been all too familiar with all along. When you are having fun, you are more inclined to be creative, in touch with your intuition and fundamental thoughts. In other words, when you are having fun, you are brilliant!
